With standard tours, a guide can brief you about the route, translate and explain local culture, interesting sites and good places to stop, but the entire group must stay together. You need to be able to remain with the group and must stop when the group stops, making it impossible to go at your own pace and discover the region on your own.

Jean-Philippe's tour is a unique combination that offers the advantages of both guided and self-guided tours. Everyone will receive a book containing maps, cue sheets and profiles and will be briefed each day about the route and places of interest. You choose whether you want to ride with J-Philippe or do it on your own. Either way, the support vehicle will be there to assist you, and Jean-Philippe will be available to help you at the end of your ride, so you can ride at your own pace with peace of mind.

Why are these tour more affordable?

Most guided tours of this quality cost much more, so you may wonder why ours doesn’t. The simple answer is that Jean-Philippe, an experienced cultural and cycling guide, loves to share his passion for the sport and for the mountains themselves and this tour is a fundraiser for Native Planet. Jean-Philippe believes that Word of Mouth is the best marketing and the money he doesn't spend in expensive ads in major magazines is reflected in the price of his tours.

At what pace will this tour be guided? Is the tour speed meant for racers?

These tours are designed not just to enjoy the cycling challenges, but also for the enjoyment of all aspects of the regions visited. They will accommodate a wide range of cyclists in good physical condition. Jean-Philippe will guide at a moderate pace; everyone will be encouraged to climb at his or her own pace. These riders will regroup on top of the big passes, stop, stretch, and enjoy the surroundings before continuing the trip. Racers will be welcome to set course records, but they will probably be on their own ahead of the guided group. Either way, the support vehicle will be on call with radio or phone communication and available to all.
