"Passes of the Pyrenees" (PoP)
September 1-10, 2008

The Pyrenees are famous for the legendary passes of the Tour de France: Tourmalet, Aubisque, Soulor, Aspin, Peyresourde... Although the mountains themselves are lower than the Alps, they are just as steep! Who takes home the yellow jersey of the French Grand Tour has often been decided during the climbs of these same mountain passes.

The Pyrenees, stretching between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea, form the natural border between France and Spain and offer a great variety of cycling terrains and landscapes. The road passes through a unique sampling of some of the best-preserved French culture available, including medieval villages, cheese-making shepherds and a wide array of regional cuisine, making this route a Garden of Eden for cycling and travel enthusiasts.

Our tour is designed to offer you all the best the Pyrenees has to offer with a comfortable bed and good local food each day. And the best time of the year for this bicycle adventure is September: often the driest month, it is neither too hot nor too cold, the crowds are gone, and the golden leaves enhance the spectacular mountain scenery.
