Mentawai Expeditions: Details and Practical Information

Siberut is one of the world's densest and wildest rainforests. This is an extreme adventure tour, not one for visitors seeking conventional comfort. We currently offer only one or two annual 10 or 12-day tours departing from Padang, Sumatra. To guarantee exclusivity, tour frequency is carefully limited and your group's maximum size is eight, ensuring quality interaction with your Mentawai hosts and maximal freedom to customize your tour.

Tours for 10 or 12 days, Padang to Padang, include:

• Guide, porter(s) and assistant/cook
• Round trip ferry transportation Padang/Siberut
• Boat charter to/from Muara Siberut
• Trekking permit and police registration
• Traditional cultural food and lodging
• Host village taxes
• Food donation to host families
• All cultural ceremonies and daily life activities including a turuk*
• Good wages to all Mentawai guides, porters and host clans
• Donation to the Mentawai Cultural Ecotourism Association
• Financing of a Native Planet health or cultural project for the Mentawai.

Mentawai Tours do not include:

• International airfares
• Travels to/from the start/finish of this tour
• Medical insurance and travel assistance*
• Lodging in Padang
• Personal Equipment
